Coffee cocktail szn volume 5: Marula Madness
Don’t worry folks; we haven’t stopped drinking during quarantine. We’ve been busy in the lab batching up some fresh new mixies for the people to enjoy. Believe it or not, this takes a lot of R&D. We’ve come up with some pretty awful cocktail recipes that should not and will not ever see the light of day outside of our own kitchens. However, in the shadow of so many forgettable test recipes, one really has shown through: Marula Madness. After our first sip we knew it was time to break out the blog and get back to business with Coffee Cocktail SZN Volume 5.
The Marula Madness is a variation of our highly lauded Quarantini (all of our parents called us to tell us what a good job we’d done). Amarula is a cream liqueur from South Africa. For those of you who are unfamiliar, it’s similar to Bailey’s except that it has a lighter texture and has notes of fruit. Amarula is made with the fruit of the marula tree, which has a similar flavor profile of the pear or passion fruit. Some of you are wondering if that would taste good with coffee. Duh. It’s tangy, it’s refreshing, and we’re the experts. Trust us on this one.

When this is done, this makes the perfect dessert drink. You know those little orange chocolates that grandma always had at her house? These guys. It tastes just like that. The Marula Madess is sweet and tangy with coffee tones. Honestly, this variation of our quarantine might be the tastiest thing we’ve made yet. We’re biased, but our bartender friends are actually pretty excited about it. That’s right, we have bartender friends. We think that makes us bartender adjacent, and with the amount of practice we’ve had during quarantine, we’re now alcoholics expert mixologists.
We’ve had some people ask if we’re going to make something that isn’t a coffee cocktail for this segment. Our answer is: no. We’re a cold brew coffee company, we’re trying to make drinks that incorporate our product. Sure it limits our options, but we found a way to make tequila work. Give it time and we’ll figure out a way to have you drinking coffee vodka sodas. The Marula Madness does it for Coffee Cocktail SZN Volume 5, but keep an eye out for our next world-breaker coming up soon. We still have a TON of time to practice.
